The Mahabharata is one of the two major Sanskrit epics of ancient India, the other being the Ramayana. Traditionally attributed to the sage Vyasa, it is believed to have been composed between 400 BCE and 400 CE, with its final form likely established by the early Gupta period (around the 4th century CE). The epic is written in Sanskrit and consists of over 100,000 shlokas (verses), making it the longest epic poem in the world, roughly ten times the length of the Iliad and the Odyssey combined.
The Mahabharata features the epic Kurukshetra War, a monumental battle between the Pandavas and Kauravas, lasting 18 days and filled with significant fights and heroic deeds.
